Laboratory Technician / Quality Control

Reporting to the Plant Manager / Operations Director, the technician is responsible for the laboratory and for collecting samples, then performing tests in accordance with company procedures using various equipment—including chromatographs and other instruments—to measure and report the purity of industrial gases. The successful candidate will also implement and monitor quality controls and actively contribute to maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect samples from required input or output points and perform necessary analyses using chromatographs and other measuring instruments and equipment.
• Document findings, generate reports, issue certificates of analysis, and communicate results to the team and clients. Manage communications between the company and clients regarding product purity and certificates.
• Participate in the installation, calibration, upgrading, and commissioning of measuring instruments and equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve facility reliability and performance.
• Maintain up-to-date maintenance logs, inspection reports, and technical data sheets in compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
• Participate in ongoing training and the development of maintenance and safety procedures.
• Participate in developing and implementing quality control procedures and in training employees and other collaborators.
• Apply and adhere to safety protocols regarding pressurized gases, electricity, and potentially explosive environments (ATEX zones).

• Vocational (DEP) or college-level (AEC or DEC) diploma in chemistry or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in the industrial gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or energy sector.
• Experience operating and managing a small laboratory is preferred.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a demanding, highly regulated environment.
• Strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards.
• Good understanding of quality standards and industry norms (industrial gas sector preferred).
• Good understanding of applicable safety standards (CNESST, RBQ, BNQ, CSA, TSSA, OSHA, etc.).
• Experience with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel).

• A good understanding of quality norms and standards prevailing in the industrial gas industry is preferable.
• Bilingualism (French/English).
